Houston RV Show Promotes FMCA

Many in the Houston area were recently introduced to FMCA and the fun of RVing when they attended the largest indoor RV expo in the U.S. during February.  South Central Area officers and members greeted those exploring the coaches in the RV exhibit space generously provided for FMCA promotion by Ron Hoover RV of Houston.

Our members shared the benefits of FMCA, stories of the friendships made, and the importance of information provided to seasoned and new motorcoach owners.  The questions began with “Do you have a motorhome?” or “Are you shopping for a motorhome?”  Tips on what to consider when purchasing were shared, such as “Can you stand up in the shower?” or “Check the way the bay doors open” or “Check the length of the bed” or “Once you decide, be sure to take a test drive.”  It’s unsure who had more fun—those looking at coaches or our members visiting about their travel, full timing and the fun at rallies.

Eight dealers displayed over 500 camping units at the NRG Stadium facility in Houston, and NRG staff stated an attendance of 35,000 during the four day event.  A large number of camping resorts provided information along with RV related product exhibitors.

South Central FMCA members sharing information included FMCA National Vice President South Central Area Rod and Ethel Sartwell, SRA Senior Vice President Joe and Nancy Wright, who encouraged the liaison with Ron Hoover.  Others included Seminar Captain and Door Prize Lt. Leroy and Lois Hinderliter, Chaplain George and Darlene Archer, Program Book Captain Earl and Mary Powell and South TX Renegades chapter members Larry and Doni Gordon, who initiated the idea to have a presence at the Houston RV Show.

Plans are in the works to have South Central chapter members share FMCA information at other state RV shows.  Dallas is on the schedule for the fall.   If you or your chapter are interested in helping to promote FMCA during a show, please email Rod Sartwell, National Vice President South Central Area at rod.roseair@gmail.com or call 918.289.8939.
